Intercontinental Hotels Group Protects Its Customers and Revenues Through Expanded Service
Agreement With Cyveillance

Innovative hotel chain recaptures millions of dollars by proactively monitoring the Internet using patented technology

ARLINGTON, VA, September 15, 2004 – Cyveillance®, the leading provider of online risk monitoring and management solutions, today announced that InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has renewed and expanded its service agreement with Cyveillance. The new scope of services will enable IHG to mitigate a broad set of online risks including fraud, brand abuse, customer diversion and other issues that would otherwise have a negative impact to its customer relations, reputation and financial performance.

By using services provided by Cyveillance, IHG proactively monitors online techniques to divert customers, reduces confusing advertising and eradicates corporate identity theft schemes that steal consumer data. “Our philosophy is that the customer experience begins long before they arrive at our hotels,” said Eric Pearson, senior vice president, global e-commerce, IHG. “In fact, it increasingly begins online with the process of locating and booking a hotel room. Our relationship with Cyveillance helps us ensure that our customers can quickly reserve a room online, at the lowest possible price, in a safe e-commerce environment.”

For IHG, managing the broader Internet as an extension of its corporate e-commerce platform has produced additional benefits related to company financial performance. “Using Cyveillance solutions over the last year, IHG recaptured millions in revenues that would have otherwise been lost to third parties and competitors, overspent on advertising, or paid out in the form of inflated commissions to its resellers,” Pearson added.

Cyveillance is the only provider of comprehensive online risk monitoring and management solutions. Using patented, proprietary technology developed over the past eight years, Cyveillance continually monitors activity across all major Internet sub-segments and protocols. Each day, the company downloads and analyzes tens of millions of documents to proactively identify threats and risks that could impact its clients.

“Our subscription-based business model is predicated on consistently over delivering value to our customers,” said Panos Anastassiadis, CEO of Cyveillance. “IHG is a great example of how our unique technology and Internet expertise are used to proactively manage mission-critical risks while simultaneously providing a hard dollar return on investment.”
