Cyveillance Launches Enhanced Cyber Safety Training Modules
New Computer-Based Training Modules Address Key Areas of Cyber Safety from General Cyber Awareness to Targeted, High-End Attacks
FAIRFAX, Va., April 25, 2011 – Cyveillance, a world leader in cyber intelligence, today announced the launch of its newly enhanced cyber safety training modules. A part of Cyveillance’s Cyber Safety Awareness™ training courses, the new computer-based training modules give employees a behind-the-scenes look at the latest technologies and techniques powering today’s most devastating Internet scams — fraud, network breaches, identity theft, social engineering and loss of customer data.
The computer-based Cyveillance Cyber Safety Awareness courses provide a three-part series of training modules designed to be viewed either as a whole or as an ongoing training program in which each module progressively makes students aware of increasingly more complex attacks. Focusing on specific areas of cyber safety, each module builds on the foundations established by the preceding module. The new course modules are:
- Intro to Cyber Safety
Using a “you are the target, you are the defense” approach to cyber safety, this course covers the basic fundamentals of cyber safety using real-world examples of today’s cyber threats combined with easy-to-remember steps to protect users and the network.
- Malware and Advanced Social Engineering Attacks
Malware is well-known to pose many dangers to both employees and organizations. What is lesser known is that most malware infections are delivered via socially-engineered attacks. This course provides a look at the latest methods used by cyber criminals to infect users and the network with malware and how many of these infections can be avoided through safe Internet browsing habits.
- Focused, High-End Attacks
Cyber criminals are launching high-end, stealthy attacks against employees using intelligence gathered from the Web and the social networking environment. This course provides an overview of how an employee’s Internet footprint can be leveraged to enable cyber criminals to gain access to the network and sensitive information, along with steps the employee can take to prevent falling victim to these sophisticated attacks.
“Although large corporations and government agencies take steps to train certain employees to protect themselves from online threats and giving away sensitive information, organization-wide information security training is often overlooked,” said James Brooks, Director of Product Management for Cyveillance. “No matter what size an organization is, every employee is essentially on the front lines when it comes to security, and must have a solid understanding of their company’s cyber security risks. By offering our clients easily implemented and affordable computer-based training modules, they are able to quickly and easily train their entire staff on the security topics that matter most, in the timeframe that works best.”
The new course offerings provide detailed best practices on how to safely navigate the Internet, increasing awareness and heightening each employee’s sense of responsibility. By completing the training courses, employees gain a better understanding of how the most damaging cyber attacks are actually executed. Students will see how the profile of an individual increases exposure to threats and how to better protect valuable data. Finally, attendees will learn which threats pose the greatest dangers today, which are likely to cause the most risk in the future, and practical tools and tactics to proactively protect against them. The result is a more aware, informed team able to confidently leverage the latest online security best practices, enhancing customer confidence and gaining a competitive edge.
